The Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center is holding its fourth annual “Buck Off” Tournament and the inaugural Texas Hold ’Em Poker Tournament at White Horse Fashion Cuisine (3401 Equestrian Club Dr., Wellington). The events began Jan. 16 and will continue for three consecutive Thursdays.
Teams made up of four riders will compete each week for a spot in the mechanical bull riding “championships” that will be held at the Vinceremos Annual Dinner & Auction on Feb. 7.
“Buck Off” participants will be scored by four celebrity judges based on each rider’s style and skill. Individual scores are accumulated for a team total. The team with the highest score each week will earn a spot in the championships. The entry fee for each team is a $100 donation to Vinceremos.
This year, a Texas Hold ’Em Poker Tournament has been added for those competitors who prefer to “buy in” rather than “buck off.” Each evening will include three poker tables with ten seats available, the cost to buy in is $50 per player.
The winning player each Thursday will advance to the final table on Feb. 7. Each additional player will be given points based on their remaining chips and can add this score to any other points earned by playing the following week. The three winning players from each Thursday and the six players with the highest points accrued over the three nights will advance to the finals, to be held in conjunction with the “Buck Off” championships.
