The Loxahatchee Groves Town Council honored Special Olympics equestrian Christina Cooney on Tuesday for winning silver and bronze medals at this summer’s Special Olympic World Games in Los Angeles, Calif. Cooney was among 16 athletes from Florida competing with 7,000 athletes from 177 nations. A client of the Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center, Cooney is intellectually challenged, as well as hearing and visually impaired.
