Army Reserve Pvt. David Mejia recently graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, Mejia studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice first aid, and field training exercises.
Mejia is the son of Gloria and Miguel Mejia of Loxahatchee. He is a 2013 graduate of Seminole Ridge High School.
