The Village of Wellington is currently offering its Senior Home Repair Program to income-eligible, senior homeowners age 62 years and older.
The program allows eligible seniors to receive up to $7,500 toward qualified improvements. Funding is limited to urgent repairs, accessibility improvements, energy efficiency improvements and health/safety issues. Outstanding code violations will be given priority.
Assistance is provided as a five-year forgivable loan at zero percent interest. Twenty percent of the loan is forgiven each year on the anniversary of the loan. In the event the property is sold or rented during the five-year period following the improvements, the balance of the loan becomes immediately due.
In order to qualify for the program, seniors must meet annual gross household income levels ranging from $36,650 for a one-person household to $69,050 for an eight-person household.
