At age 6, Amanda Ng started encouraging her friends to visit the Royal Manor nursing home during the holidays. While everyone was collecting toys for kids, Ng was worried about the elderly. This came to her mind because her great-grandmother was in a nursing home, and she was afraid to go because it always looked gloomy there. Armed with beads and gifts, she set out to confront her fears. She enlisted friends, and it turned into an annual event for the past six years. Each December, Ng enlists friends, new and old, to join her with Ty Beanie Babies and they visit the residents.
