Wellington Kid Donates Birthday Money To Help Young Athletes

Noah Norwitch, a seventh grader at Wellington Landings Middle School, donated $4,601 to the Wellington Village Council on Tuesday to be used to offset recreational program expenses for local families. Since 2014, Norwitch has donated the money he receives for his birthday to the village for the establishment of a scholarship fund to help local youth purchase athletic equipment. His interest in helping others dates back to age 5, when he asked friends and family for donations to a charity instead of receiving birthday gifts. Previously, he donated his birthday money to Angel Flight Southeast, a volunteer pilot organization that helps to arrange free air transportation to medical facilities for children and adults with medical needs. Norwitch’s younger brother Caleb also raises money for his birthday and over the past three years has raised more than $14,000, which he donated to Little Smiles.
