The results are in for the Heroes For Education 5K, and education was clearly the winner. More than 600 runners, students, teachers, district employees, volunteers, families and many friends came out to Bryant Park in Lake Worth to raise awareness and money for students and teachers in Palm Beach County public schools. The Education Foundation of Palm Beach County surpassed its goal of $60,000 thanks to the support of the community.
“We are grateful for all the people who got up early and enjoyed the race. We count on this annual event to help support all of our programs, including our very popular Red Apple Supplies,” said Christina Lambert, president and CEO of the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County.
The event was supported by PNC Bank.
“PNC Bank understands that a sound education is a strategic investment in helping to broaden children’s opportunities for social and economic mobility, which will ultimately help build a solid foundation for the future of this region,” PNC Bank Regional President of Florida East Cressman Bronson said. “That’s why we support organizations like the Education Foundation and events like the Heroes for Education race. They are community assets well worth PNC’s commitment.”
Palm Beach County public schools participated in another type of competition in the Heroes for Education 5K. Two $750 physical education grants were up for grabs. Crosspointe Elementary School was awarded for top participating team, and J.C. Mitchell Elementary School was recognized as the top fundraising team.
