Wellington Elementary School kicked off the school year with an Olympic-sized book fair. The aptly titled “Going for the Gold” book fair was a fun-filled weeklong event inspired by the Summer Olympics. The PTO and volunteers transformed the media center into an Olympic stadium, complete with an Olympic ring banner (shown above), sports memorabilia and volunteers wearing team shirts. The students also participated in a reading log contest, taking home the gold in reading by reading 90,478 minutes. The closing ceremonies took place at Book Fair Family Night on Friday, Sept. 21. All proceeds from the book fair benefit the school library. For those who missed this event, Wellington Elementary School will host another book fair in February.
