Berean Christian School National Honor Society inductee candidates had to patiently wait longer than planned for their ceremony to be inducted into Berean’s chapter of the National Honor Society due to Tropical Storm Isaac.
The annual ceremony was scheduled to take place Monday, Aug. 27 when Tropical Storm Isaac blew through the area affecting the Palm Beaches and changing plans. The rescheduled date was Thursday, Sept. 6.
Christopher Intoppa, president of NHS, opened the ceremony with prayer and an explanation of what it means to be part of the National Honor Society, including strong academic qualities, leadership skills and personal integrity.
The inductees listened carefully to what membership in NHS entails.
The inductees were 10th-graders Brittany Belford, Stephanie Daniels, Kenny Hippler, Marissa Intoppa, Lauren Perez, Miranda Reese and Sarah Starkey; 11th-graders Alyssa Ashworth, Christopher Kaminski and Victoria Meldrim; and 12th-graders Michael Demyan and Jimmy Ortiz.
William Dupere, lead administrator at BCS, concluded the evening by saying a few words of encouragement to the students. He spoke of their achievement, but “that’s not the end,” Dupere said. He reminded students of the responsibility that is involved in being an academic leader of the school and community.
Dupere spoke of what it took to get in their seats on this ceremony evening and what it takes to live out this honor, especially by putting Christ first in their lives.
