Do you want to help make the holiday season bright for families in need this year? Wellington is asking for assistance in making sure no village resident goes without a hot meal this Thanksgiving. Donations to the Hometown Holiday Food Drive are being accepted now through Friday, Nov. 16.
Residents are encouraged to contribute the following food items: boxed mashed potatoes, boxed stuffing mix, cornbread mix, cranberry sauce, turkey gravy and canned vegetables such as green beans and corn.
Food items can be dropped off at the Wellington Municipal Complex (12300 W. Forest Hill Blvd.), Village Park (11700 Pierson Road), the Wellington Community Center (12150 W. Forest Hill Blvd.), the Community Services Office (1092 Wellington Trace), the Lake Wellington Professional Centre (12133 Ken Adams Way), Ultima Fitness and Schaefer Drugs in the Wellington Plaza, and all Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue stations in Wellington.
Food collected through the drive will be distributed to residents in need on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Wellington Community Center. Residents can pre-register to receive food by contacting the Community Services Office at (561) 791-4796, or in person at 1092 Wellington Trace. Pre-registration ends on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
The village thanks the following community partners for making the drive possible: Wellington’s Interfaith Council, the Christopher Aquirre Memorial Foundation, the Mall at Wellington Green, Florida Crystals, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Wellington Regional Medical Center, the Solid Waste Authority and RC Hatton Farms.
Special thanks to Don Chepo’s Taco Shop and Oli’s Fashion Cuisine, which will be donating 10 percent of all sales back for the purchase of turkeys for the food drive. This holiday give-back campaign will take place on Nov. 1 and Nov. 7 at Oli’s Fashion Cuisine (10610 W. Forest Hill Blvd., Suite 20) and Oct. 29 and Nov. 5 at Don Chepo’s Taco Shop (10660 W. Forest Hill Blvd.).
Partnership opportunities are still available. For more information, contact Morgan Cintron at (561) 791-4102 or mcintron@wellingtonfl.gov.
