Lord’s Place Ending Homelessness Breakfast Draws 650 People

PBSO Chief Deputy Michael Gauger and County Commissioner Gregg Weiss.

At an event that many described as “moving” and “inspirational,” more than 650 community and business leaders came together at the Lord’s Place 11th annual Ending Homelessness Breakfast on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the Cohen Pavilion at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.

The event was chaired by Bank of America Palm Beach County President and Southeast Regional Executive Fabiola Brumley. The theme was “Connecting the Dots.” Three awards were presented to those helping the Lord’s Place make important connections for formerly homeless clients with the programs and services they need to be successful in their journey out of homelessness.

This year’s award recipients were recently retired Palm Beach County Deputy Administrator Jon Van Arnam, receiving the Ending Homelessness Award for his longtime commitment to creating a system of care in helping the homeless throughout Palm Beach County; Bill Proctor, operations manager for Paris Ceramics in Palm Beach, for his support in designing beautiful and useful spaces at several of the Lord’s Place campuses; and Mair, Scott and Mike Armand for providing pest control services at all of the agency’s six campuses.

Another highlight of the morning was the sharing of success stories by formerly homeless men, women and teens who are embracing a brighter tomorrow thanks to the programs and services of the Lord’s Place.

As the program culminated, board member and philanthropist Ann Brown took to the stage and made a surprise announcement that she and husband Don Brown would match any donation made to the Lord’s Place that morning.

“We asked for an angel and she stepped forward,” CEO Diana Stanley said. “We are deeply grateful for this support. So many more lives will be transformed due to the generosity of the Browns and all of the attendees who donated at the breakfast.”
