The Village of Wellington hosted its annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at the Wellington Patriot Memorial. Mayor Anne Gerwig welcomed the crowd, which included a number of retired New York City firefighters and police officers. Pastor Ryan Borkan from Calvary Grace Chapel gave the invocation. The ceremony included speeches from village officials recalling those who lost their lives during the 9/11 terror attacks 18 years ago. Also speaking was Nicole Coates, who told the story of the long trip the Patriot Memorial’s Twin Tower relic took before it arrived at its current home in Wellington. Music for the event was provided by Palm Beach Central High School’s Traditions choir, which sang the national anthem and “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”
