State Rep. Matt Willhite (D-District 86) has been appointed to serve as the Democratic Ranking Member of the House Rules Committee. Before consideration on the floor, every bill must first pass through the Rules Committee. Willhite was also reappointed as the Democratic Ranking Member on the Insurance & Banking Subcommittee and the PreK-12 Appropriations Subcommittee.
“I am honored that Democratic leadership has appointed me to serve as Democratic Ranking Member of the House Rules Committee,” Willhite said. “With the debate time procedures put in place last year while the House is in session, the role has grown in significance. I am looking forward to working closely with Chair [Paul] Renner and advocating on behalf of the Democratic caucus.”
Willhite also serves on the Appropriations Committee, the Commerce Committee, the Insurance & Banking Subcommittee and the PreK-12 Appropriations Subcommittee and is serving his third term as a member of the Florida House of Representatives.
