The 23rd season of the Wycliffe Stiffs Stickball League is in the books. On April 1, the New York Egg Creams defeated the Brooklyn Bums in the league championship game, 10-0. The Egg Creams were led by Gary Blitzer, who slugged a double, triple and home run in the game championship finale.
Blitzer was named the Rookie of the Year for the season. It’s the fourth league title for the Egg Creams in the 23-year history of the league, which plays its games on the premises of Village Park in Wellington. Gerry Ranzal was the season-long scorekeeper, while Mike Schweiger was the league’s official announcer.
