Family, friends, former students and colleagues gathered to honor New Horizons Elementary School teacher Cheryl Lay on the occasion of her retirement from 38 years of teaching in Palm Beach County. Her accolades include Palm Beach County Math Teacher of the Year, Palm Beach County Math Educator of the Year, being an “I Make a Difference” teacher, Dwyer Excellence in Teaching nominee, New Horizons Teacher of the Year nominee, board member of the Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics for 15 years, and a favorite teacher of scores of students.
