Suspects Flee After Attempted Home Burglaries

NOV. 6 — A resident of Westhampton Circle called the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office substation in Wellington on Tuesday morning to report a residential burglary. According to a PBSO report, the victim came out of his bedroom at approximately 7:25 a.m. to observe two unknown black males run out of the home through the rear sliding glass door. The victim attempted to follow the suspects but lost them near Montauk Drive. According to the report, nothing was stolen. The suspects were described as approximately 6 feet tall and 200 lbs. with short hair, blue jeans and black hooded sweatshirts. There was no further information available at the time of the report.

NOV. 6 — A deputy from the PBSO substation in Wellington was dispatched to a home in Sugar Pond Manor on Tuesday morning regarding a residential burglary. According to a PBSO report, at approximately 11:45 p.m. two white male suspects used a cutting tool on a screen to enter the victim’s patio. They then cut the screen to the victim’s master bathroom. The suspects fled when they discovered the victim was home. According to the report, the victim attempted to chase them but was unable to. The first suspect was described as approximately 5’5” and thin with a star design shaved into the left side of his hair, wearing plaid cargo shorts and red sneakers. The second suspect was described as approximately 6’1” and thin. The suspects caused approximately $125 worth of damage. There was no further information available at the time of the report.

NOV. 1 — A Boynton Beach man was arrested last Thursday afternoon on grand theft charges after shoplifting from the Walmart Supercenter on Belvedere Road. According to a PBSO report, at approximately 3 p.m. a deputy from the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach was called to the store after a loss prevention officer observed 27-year-old Brett Richards pushing a shopping cart full of groceries in the men’s department. According to the report, Richards exited the store, passing all points of sale without attempting to pay for the items. The officer tried to stop Richards in the parking lot, but Richards loaded several items into a white Toyota and fled the area in the vehicle. According to the report, the loss prevention officer was able to get the license plate number, and Richards was discovered across the street in a parking lot. The stolen items were valued at $465.23. Richards was arrested and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail, where he was charged with grand theft.

NOV. 2 — A Wellington man was arrested last Friday afternoon on shoplifting charges after he was caught stealing from the Walmart Supercenter on Belvedere Road. According to a PBSO report, a loss prevention officer contacted the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach after she observed 45-year-old Michael Foster remove several electronics items from a display shelf and place them in a shopping cart. The loss prevention officer observed Foster exit the store, passing all cash registers without making an attempt to pay for the items. According to the report, the loss prevention officer stopped Foster and recovered $610.02 in stolen merchandise. Foster was arrested and taken to the county jail, where he was charged with grand theft.

NOV. 4 — A deputy from the PBSO substation in Wellington was dispatched to a home in the Lakeside Shores community last Sunday morning regarding a vehicle burglary. According to a PBSO report, sometime between midnight and 6 a.m., someone entered the victim’s vehicle and removed approximately $500 cash along with the victim’s credit card and driver’s license. The victim also found a check book about 15 feet from the vehicle. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.

NOV. 4 — Two female juveniles were arrested last Sunday afternoon on shoplifting charges after they were caught stealing from the JCPenney store in the Mall at Wellington Green. According to a PBSO report, the juveniles were observed stealing approximately $137 in clothing and jewelry. Both were arrested and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

NOV. 5 — A West Palm Beach man was arrested Monday morning on charges of giving false information to a deputy following a traffic stop on Victoria Grove Blvd. According to a PBSO report, at approximately 7:25 a.m. a deputy from the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach was on patrol in the area when he observed a vehicle pass several other vehicles at a high rate of speed. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver. According to the report, the driver gave the deputy a false name, and a background check revealed no information. When the deputy pressed him about his name, the man said his real name was Reginald Thompson. A background check revealed Thompson was driving with a suspended license, and a search of the vehicle discovered a knife with a 6-inch blade beneath the passenger seat. Thompson was arrested and taken to the county jail, where he was charged with driving with a suspended license and giving false information to a police officer.

NOV. 5 — A resident of Eastwood of Wellington contacted the PBSO substation in Wellington on Monday evening to report a residential burglary. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., someone shattered the glass window on the front door and entered the victim’s home. The perpetrator(s) stole a Sony PS3 gaming system, an Apple Macbook laptop computer and a championship ring. The stolen items were valued at $2,180. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.

NOV. 6 — A deputy from the PBSO substation in Wellington responded to a home in the South Shore community Tuesday morning regarding a vehicle burglary. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 6:15 p.m. Monday and 7:45 a.m. the following morning, someone punched out the driver’s-side lock on the victim’s truck and entered the vehicle. The perpetrator(s) stole a Gateway laptop computer with its case, valued at approximately $1,000. According to the report, during a canvass of the neighborhood, the deputy discovered that a neighbor had video surveillance cameras. Footage revealed that at approximately 2 a.m., unknown individuals with flashlights gained access to the vehicle. There was no further information available at the time of the report.

NOV. 6 — A West Palm Beach man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges of obstructing traffic following an incident near the intersection of Southern Blvd. and State Road 7. According to a PBSO report, a deputy from the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach observed 40-year-old Michael Troutman soliciting money while standing on a median on SR 7, holding a cardboard sign asking for help. The deputy said that Troutman did not have a permit to solicit funds and has been verbally warned on several occasions. According to the report, at approximately 4 p.m. several witnesses contacted the substation to report that Troutman had been impeding the flow of traffic in an attempt to solicit money. Troutman was arrested on charges of prohibited use of a right of way and issued a notice to appear in court.
