The 2012 Wellington Amateur Golf Championship will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Binks Forest Golf Club. The event will have three divisions: Open, Senior and Junior.
“We’re very excited to host the first event of this kind,” Binks Forest General Manager Greg Schroeder said. “We hope players of all levels and skill come play.”
The entry fee is $59 per player, with a portion of the event proceeds going to the Wellington Parks & Recreation Department for its 2013 summer junior golf program. You do not have to be a resident of Wellington to compete.
Players with an approved USGA handicap will not only compete for the Open Championship in their division but will also be eligible for the NET title.
The Open flight will consist of golfers under the age of 50 and older than 17. Both men and women will compete in each flight with the women teeing off from a shorter distance per USGA regulations.
Registrations are now being accepted by calling the Binks Forest Golf Club at (561) 333-5731. Tee times are available from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. All participants are asked to mention the Wellington Open when calling for your tee time and specify the division in which you intend to compete.
Players should report no later than 45 minutes before their tee time. Competitors with a USGA handicap will be required to present proof of handicap upon arrival at the registration table.
In addition to the golf, there will be a raffle conducted of numerous items including a trip for two to Las Vegas. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase the day of the event.
