Pastor Weiss Back From Sabbatical

St. Michael Evangelical Lutheran Church has announced that Pastor Marjorie Weiss is back from her four-month sabbatical.

Weiss was a recipient of a Lily Endowment National Clergy Renewal grant that allowed her to travel on a pilgrimage to Europe and ending her time with a four-week stay at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in California.

Weiss has been ordained for 32 years and is one of the first women pastors in the Lutheran Church. The theme of her sabbatical was “Three Decades of Ministry: What’s Next?” She strives to lead St. Michael with open-minded, Christ-centered objectivity. It is a congregation for which science and faith do not conflict.

Weiss is back just in time to officiate Advent and Christmas Eve services. Advent services are held at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. every Sunday between now and Christmas. Christmas Eve services will take place at 5:30 p.m. for a family-oriented service, and there will be candlelight service at 11 p.m.

St. Michael is located on the northwest corner of Birkdale Drive and Forest Hill Blvd. in Wellington. This will be the first Christmas service in the new sanctuary, which was completed in May. Everyone is welcome at St. Michael, no matter their religious background. For more information, visit www.stmichaelelc.com or call the office at (561) 793-4999.
