In celebration of the 65th anniversary of Israel’s independence, the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County will host a community-wide Yom Ha’Atzmaut festival Sunday, April 21 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
The free, family-friendly event will offer entertainment for all ages, including crafts, inflatables and performances by some of the most acclaimed Jewish artists. The lineup includes popular ensemble group Mika Karni and Kol Dodi, rock artist Naomi Less, and stand-up comedian Joel Chasnoff, who will also serve as master of ceremonies. Local rabbis and cantors will lead attendees in singing the national anthems for the United States and Israel, followed by a commemorative candle-lighting ceremony.
A special youth area will feature Israel-themed activities such as an IDF training zone, Masada rock climbing wall and a show by P.J. Library recording artist Joanie Leeds. Door prizes include round-trip tickets to Israel, courtesy of El Al Airlines.
The Israel@65 festival marks the culmination of a series of events hosted by the local Jewish Federation over the past few months to celebrate and commemorate the milestone. The variety of programming underscores the federation’s mission to advance Jewish life in the community and strengthen the bonds between the Jews of the Palm Beaches and the people, land, history and culture of Israel.
The public festival runs from 2 to 5 p.m. Advance registration is requested, and free parking passes are available with registration. Contact Myra Gold at (561) 242-6609 or myra.gold@jewishpalmbeach.org, or visit jewishpalmbeach.org/israel65 for more info.
