Wellington is partnering with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to offer an Internet safety training course Wednesday, July 31 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Wellington Community Center.
The course is for parents or anyone working with children between the ages of 5 and 17 and will cover the vulnerabilities of children using current technology such as smart phones and social networking. It will also explore the difficult subject of self-exploitation.
Edward Russo, program manager from the Center for Missing and Exploited Children, will be leading the training discussion. There will be a PowerPoint presentation on Internet safety followed by a question and answer period.
Seating is limited. RSVP to Deputy Poritz with the sheriff’s office via e-mail at poritzs@pbso.org.
