Phone Stolen During Brazen Robbery In RPB

JULY 20 — A deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office substation in Royal Palm Beach was dispatched to the Royal Plaza last Saturday afternoon regarding a robbery. According to a PBSO report, a teenage girl and her grandmother were in the plaza getting pizza at approximately 1:30 p.m. when an unknown male teenager approached them. According to the report, the victim said the suspect reached into her back pants pocket and grabbed her iPhone 5. The victim said she tried to hold onto the phone, but the suspect forced it out of her hand, injuring her in the process. According to the report, the suspect fled west on Sparrow Drive, and the victim followed, but lost him near Goldfinch Road and Sparrow Drive. According to the report, a witness saw the suspect run into an apartment complex on Sparrow Drive. The victim’s grandmother said that a second male was standing nearby, and she believed he was acting as a lookout. The first suspect is described as a black male between 5’9” and 5’11” with a skinny build and short hair. He was wearing red shorts and a white T-shirt. The second suspect is described as a black male, 5’7” tall and heavyset with a short afro. The stolen iPhone was valued at approximately $600.

JULY 16 — A resident of La Mancha contacted the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach last Monday morning to report a vehicle burglary. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 1 and 11 p.m. on Friday, July 12, someone entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle while it was parked outside her home. The victim said the perpetrator(s) stole $800 cash from her center console. According to the report, the victim discovered the cash missing at approximately 11 p.m. that night and realized there was tissue paper attached to the door handle, which she believed was used to wipe the door handle. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.

JULY 17 — A deputy from the PBSO’s Acreage/Loxahatchee substation was dispatched to a home on Temple Blvd. last Tuesday morning regarding a theft. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 8 p.m. last Monday and 8:30 a.m. the following morning, someone removed the blue Tonneau cover from the bed of the victim’s pickup truck. According the victim, the cover had been on his truck last Monday night, but the following morning, he discovered that someone pried and broke the locking mechanism, then removed it from the vehicle. The stolen cover was valued at approximately $1,100. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.

JULY 18 — A resident of the Trails at Royal Palm Beach called the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach last Thursday morning to report a stolen vehicle. According to a PBSO report, the victim awoke at 4 a.m. last Thursday and discovered his black 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 motorcycle was missing. The victim had recently purchased the motorcycle, and parked it in front of his car in his driveway at approximately midnight. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.

JULY 18 — A deputy from the PBSO’s Acreage/Loxahatchee substation responded to a home in the Bayhill Estates community last Thursday evening regarding a case of vandalism. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 11:45 a.m. and 12 p.m., someone removed the victim’s mailbox from its post. The victim went outside at approximately 11:45 a.m. to check his mail and then went back inside. When he walked outside again approximately 15 minutes later, he discovered the mailbox on the ground. According to the report, the victim didn’t see anything suspicious at the time. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.

JULY 20 — An employee of a landscaping business contacted the PBSO’s Acreage/Loxahatchee substation last Saturday afternoon regarding a theft. According to a PBSO report, the employee was doing work outside the Walgreens store on Orange Blvd. between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. last Saturday. The employee set a trimmer down in one of the hedges while doing other work. When he returned for it, it was missing. The stolen trimmer was valued at approximately $400. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.

JULY 22 — A North Palm Beach man was arrested Monday on shoplifting charges at the Bealls department store in Royal Palm Beach. According to a PBSO report, a loss prevention officer observed 55-year-old John Evans select pairs of women’s shoes and sunglasses while in the store and then attempt to return the items for a cash refund. The officer also observed Evans select a Godiva chocolate and conceal it in his pants pocket. According to the report, Evans successfully returned the items and then left the store, where the officer stopped him. The items were valued at $58.82. Evans was arrested and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail, where he was charged with petty theft and requesting a refund with a false receipt.

JULY 23 — A resident of Greenview Shores called the PBSO substation in Wellington on Tuesday to report a vehicle burglary. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 10 p.m. Monday and 8:15 a.m. the following morning, someone entered the victim’s vehicle. The victim was leaving for work and noticed his black multipurpose tool, which is usually kept in his glove box, on the ground nearby. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.

JULY 23 — A deputy from the PBSO substation in Wellington was dispatched Tuesday morning to a construction site on State Road 7 regarding a case of vandalism. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 5 p.m. Monday and 6:45 a.m. the following morning, someone entered the construction site and spray-painted graffiti on a piece of construction equipment. According to the report, the graffiti said “couch and rose.” There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.
