Puppies On RPB Blvd. Bring Out The PBSO

JULY 12 – A deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office substation in Royal Palm Beach was called to Royal Palm Beach Blvd. south of Heatherwood Drive last Friday evening regarding multiple puppies loose on the roadway. According to the report, at approximately 5 p.m., several puppies broke free from a yard and were running on the roadway, nearly getting hit by cars. The deputy was able to round up the puppies with help from nearby witnesses and discovered that the 13 dogs belonged to a nearby house. According to the report, the dogs did not have tags and seemed to be poorly cared for. The dogs were returned, but Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control was called, and the owners were issued several citations for allowing the dogs to roam the street.

JULY 9 – A deputy from the PBSO’s Acreage/Loxahatchee substation was dispatched to the Publix plaza on Seminole Pratt Whitney Road last Tuesday evening regarding a case of vandalism. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 3:30 and 5:40 p.m., someone shattered the driver’s side front window of the victim’s vehicle. According to the victim, no entry was made to her vehicle. The perpetrator(s) caused approximately $300 in damage. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.

JULY 10 – A resident of Temple Blvd. called the PBSO’s Acreage/Loxahatchee substation last Wednesday afternoon regarding a case of theft. According to a PBSO report, the victim received a call from her pool caretaker that her pool pump was missing. The victim said that her lawn caretaker had seen the pump the day before. According to the report, sometime between 5 p.m. last Tuesday and 3 p.m. the following afternoon, someone removed the pump. According to the victim, her dogs were barking at approximately 6 p.m., but when she went outside, she didn’t see anything. The stolen pump was valued at approximately $400. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.

JULY 11 – A resident of Crestwood Court called the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach last Thursday to report a theft. According to a PBSO report, the victim placed a package containing a Nikon digital camera and two lenses outside her door at approximately 10 a.m. last Tuesday morning. Approximately a half an hour later, the mail carrier arrived and asked the victim where the package was. The victim then realized that the package was missing. According to the report, the victim was selling the camera. The stolen items were valued at approximately $1,200.

JULY 11 – A deputy from the PBSO substation in Royal Palm Beach was called to a home on Sandpiper Ave. last Thursday morning regarding a home burglary. According to a PBSO report, sometime between 11:15 p.m. last Wednesday and 8:15 a.m. the following morning, someone entered the victim’s home and stole a 50-inch Samsung television and an Xbox game system. According to the report, the victim left for work at approximately 11:15 p.m. and observed that his neighbor was having a party. The stolen items were valued at approximately $1,800. There was no further information available at the time of the report.

JULY 12 – A Royal Palm Beach man was arrested early last Friday morning on drug charges. According to a PBSO report, a deputy from the Royal Palm Beach substation was on patrol in the Lowe’s parking lot when he observed 44-year-old Thomas Merlo walking through the lot even though all of the businesses in the area were closed. According to the report, the deputy turned his spotlight on Merlo and observed him drop a small white cube from his hand onto the ground. According to the report, the deputy retrieved the item and observed it to be crack cocaine. Merlo was arrested and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail where he was charged with possession of cocaine.

JULY 12 – A man was nearly robbed last Friday evening following an altercation in the Crestwood Square shopping plaza. According to a PBSO report, a deputy from the Royal Palm Beach substation was dispatched to the plaza after the victim called to report the incident. According to the report, the victim was walking in the plaza at approximately 6:12 p.m. when an unknown man approached him and attempted to take a bag he had around his shoulders. When the victim retrieved his cell phone to call 911, the man attempted to take the phone. According to the report, the robbery was unsuccessful and nothing was taken.

JULY 15 – A deputy from the PBSO’s Acreage/Loxahatchee substation was called to a home on E Road early Monday morning regarding a house fire. According to the report, the deputy arrived at the property at approximately 1:41 a.m. to find the home fully engulfed in flames. According to the report, the home was unoccupied and under construction. The deputy interviewed several workers who said there were no problems with the construction or any employees. According to the report, the damage to the home was estimated at approximately $266,000. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.

JULY 15 – A resident of Sheffield Woods East called the PBSO substation in Wellington on Monday morning to report a vehicle burglary. Sometime between 8 p.m. last Sunday and 11:45 a.m. the following morning, someone entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and ransacked it. According to the report, the perpetrator(s) went through the glove box and trunk, but nothing was taken. There were no suspects or witnesses at the time of the report.

JULY 15 – A deputy from the PBSO substation in Wellington was dispatched to a home in Oakmont Estates on Monday afternoon regarding a case of fraud. According to a PBSO report, the victim received a call from her bank on Saturday alerting her of suspicious activity on her account. The victim said she was told several suspicious purchases were made on her account from Apple and different gas stations in Oklahoma and Nebraska. According to the report, the victim was in possession of her bank card and had not been out of the state recently. There were no suspects at the time of the report.
