Garden Club To Meet Jan. 6

The Wellington Garden Club will feature “The Magical World of Butterflies and Butterfly Gardening” with Jan Everett on Monday, Jan. 6.

The Wellington Garden Club meets on the first Monday of the month at the Wellington Community Center (12150 W. Forest Hill Blvd). A business meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch at 11:30 and the program by Jan Everett at 12:30 p.m.

Everett has been an avid butterfly gardener since 1996. As a member of the National Butterfly Association and a trained master gardener, she will introduce the magical world of butterflies and the ways in which anyone can invite them to take up residence.

Everett has helped both the Wellington Landings Middle School and Equestrian Trails Elementary School environmental clubs establish their own butterfly gardens.

Butterfly gardening has become one of the most popular ways to connect with nature in suburbia, and even in small plots, butterflies can find refuge and nourishment with a little bit of help from gardeners who understand their basic needs.

Guests are welcome to attend the free event, but seating is limited. To reserve a seat, call Carol Coleman (561) 792-2290.
