Canceling school on Friday, Jan. 10 due to flooding didn’t stop some second graders from meeting with their favorite children’s poetry author, Bruce Lansky, who was scheduled to visit their class that day at Loxahatchee Groves Elementary School. Teachers Amy Buswell, Jonna Recchio and Ashley Orozco rounded up as many students as they could and met with Lansky at the Wellington library. He performed several poems, watched the children perform their favorite poems and involved them in a multi-character performance using his guitar. Lansky also personalized and signed all of the students’ poetry books.
