Baseballers Deliver Gifts To Kids At PWH

The Okeeheelee Indians 12U baseball team stepped up to the plate on Christmas Eve and delivered a home run in the form of Christmas presents to the pediatric ward at Palms West Hospital. The Indians filled up two large wagons of gifts and merrily visited children in the hospital on Christmas Eve.

“Playing baseball is just a small part of the big picture, and doing things like this helps the boys understand how fortunate they are,” team manager Dave Epstein said. “Hopefully, we helped a few children have a better holiday season.”

The Indians are headed to Cooperstown, N.Y., this June for the trip of a lifetime. Fundraising is currently underway, and the team will be hosting a golf tournament and silent auction to raise the money needed to get the team to New York. The outing will take place Sunday, Feb. 9 at Palm Beach National Golf Club. The cost is $100 per player or $400 per foursome.
