For the second year in a row, the John Prince Golf Learning Center has been selected by the Golf Range Association of America as a Top 50 Range in the standalone category. Winners in each golf category will appear in the January 2014 issue of Golf Range Magazine as well as at www.golfrange.org.
John Prince Golf Learning Center was selected for its wide range of amenities, such as grass and mat tee areas, 3-hole practice course, short game practice area, well-marked and measured targets, full golf shop and covered hitting areas. In 2013, the learning center increased the size of the driving range tee by 25 percent and added a greenside bunker in the short game area.
Another important aspect of the award is the wide variety of programming available at John Prince Golf Learning Center, such as adult education classes, the Get Golf Ready initiative and several junior programs, such as Little Linkers, the Junior League and Start Smart.
All of the John Prince instructors have received numerous section and national instructional awards. Events held at various times of the year were also instrumental in the Top 50 selection. Some of the events include the One Club Championship, the PBC Putting Championship, Demo Days, Glow Golf, Patriot Golf Day, the spring scavenger hunt and parent-child events.
Another area that sets the facility apart is its Audubon International Certification, which all Palm Beach County-owned courses have achieved. This reinforces the county’s commitment to keeping the environmental impact of its golf facilities to a minimum, and to improve and maintain the health and abundance of native plants, wildlife and connecting water bodies.
The John Prince Golf Learning Center is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks & Recreation Department and is located at 4754 S. Congress Avenue in Lake Worth. For additional information, visit www.pbcgov.com/golf.
