Should construction of a Race Trac gas station at the north side of Southern Blvd., just west of Royal Palm Beach Blvd. be approved?
At first I thought this was not a good idea, but after researching the benefits of this project, I turned 180 degrees. Some of the benefits include: beautiful landscaping around the gas station, the major entrance and exit to the gas station will be on Southern Blvd., the whole area has been a commercialized area for years, convenience for residents and other businesses in the area, the Village of Royal Palm Beach plans to add additional beautification to the corner of Southern Blvd. and Royal Palm Beach, additional income for the Village of Royal Palm Beach and based on present gas prices, the Race Trac gas stations are usually lower.
I have been a resident of Royal Palm Beach for the past 26 years, and I’m in favor of having this gas station.

Oxymoron = Race Trac/Hall Mark? Think that one over real well. Bust my sides on that comment.
After working in the petroleum business for over 10 years. You have no clue what a Hall Mark Station is. You need to think of it as the a “Grand” Race Trac Station. You know they do have those kind of stations. Sorry, I should have described it in terms you could understand. Feel free to check the definition of grand.
I am in favor of the Race Trac Station as long as they make it a Hall Mark Station. I have seen quite a few of these stations and some of their footprints are out of this world. This is a prime location and deserves a Hall Mark Building in its spot. Maybe the hotel and shopping center will step up to the plate and remodel. I see a major traffic jam on Southern Blvd. when school is out for child pick up. Not to mention you can’t even get to Goodyear. Make sure you get the big picture. We do need a Race Trac Station. They can also get rid of the bank lot and make it more appealing. The station would hide the ugly hotel.
I live in RP and I think the gas station would be terrible for the neighborhood. Mr. Phelzman is obviously another “friend” of Santamaria who is writing in return for a trip to lunch. Wellington writer is right, the RP council and p&z are responsible for this mess. We need to get rid of all of them once and for all. We voted you in, we can vote you out. We are watching what you say and what you do. Don’t think you have us fooled.
Wow, what is wrong with Royal Palm’s Council and their Planning and Zoning appointments?
The Race Trac gas station will degrade this intersection. Traffic, crime and loss of aesthetics to this entry into Royal Palm will forever change this spot.
The gas station will set the tone for what to ‘expect’ in the Village. Not enticing at all.
It’s the almightly dollar$ to which this Council is focused.
But better in Royal Palm Beach than in Wellington where this once was brought up.
And which group approved the horrid paint colors on the strip shopping center building near Black Diamond?
