New Horizons Elementary School is excited to have students compete in the Special Olympics games for the first time.
Students Peter Wetzel, Audrey Ballard and Aaron Konigsberg have competed in their local area games participating in the 50-yard dash and the softball toss. Konigsberg, a second-grade student, finished second and third in his events. Ballard, a fifth-grade student, and Wetzel, a second-grade student, placed well enough in their respective events to qualify for the state competition, which will be held on May 19-20 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.
Physical education teacher Kirstin Voitus and special education teacher Laura Smith are proud of the hard work and dedication of all three student athletes. New Horizons wishes them the best of luck.
