Western Academy Charter School participated in the 32nd annual International Coastal Cleanup on Sept. 15. In the cleanup, 100 countries participated globally in picking up trash to help save the oceans. Locally, approximately 50 participants at Western Academy removed 80 pounds of trash, 17.6 pounds of recycling and one tire from their school campus and the surrounding community in Royal Palm Beach.
Western Academy has been recognized by the FAU/Pine Jog Green Recognition Program as a Green School of Excellence for the past three years and strives to continually excel in green initiatives. The school will be participating in March’s Great American Cleanup.
The school currently serves 520 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Western Academy is ranked in the top five percent of all schools in the state and designated as a 2017 Florida School of Excellence based on state test scores.
