Sixty-seven members of the Palm Beach Central High School debate team traveled to Suncoast High School recently to compete against 350 other students from 23 high schools. The contest was in an event called Student Congress, where students act like members of the U.S. Congress, making speeches and arguments about laws. There were 20 students in each chamber, and the students competed to be in the top six. Winning awards went to Garrett Gouveia for third place, Emily Bebergal for fourth place, Tara Kari for fifth place and Teji Kari for fifth place.
