On Thursday, Dec. 13, rows and rows of display boards lined the Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds as hundreds of young scientists and engineers from across the county competed in the Palm Beach Regional Science & Engineering Fair. A total of 11 Emerald Cove Middle School students, shown above, were among this elite group that, after the culmination of months of hard work, submitted projects in environmental sciences, engineering, biomedical sciences, physics and chemistry. From more than 800 project entries, seven Emerald Cove students — Sofia Ayala, Eden Pierre, Connor Candea, Chloe Hartman, Anjali Maddukuri, Adalyn MacVane and Sneha Joseph — earned places in either the junior (middle school) category or a special award from one of the sponsored organizations.
