The Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County scored a hole-in-one with its third annual Literacy Links Golf Tournament at the Palm Beach Par 3. More than $20,000 was raised at the April 10 outing to help provide links to literacy for adults, children and families who struggle with literacy skills.

Forty players took part in the oceanside tournament, which was followed by a lunch and silent auction at al Fresco Restaurant and Bar.

The winning foursome was Vincent Delazzero, Trent Hayes, Wayne Warren and Troy Wheat.

But the real winners are the children and adults who will benefit from the fundraiser.

“One in seven adults in our county is unable to read and understand information found in books, newspapers and manuals, and nearly half of all third graders are not reading on grade level,” said Kristin Calder, CEO of the Literacy Coalition. “Fundraisers like Literacy Links help us ensure that every child and every adult in Palm Beach County can read.”

A special thank you to tournament sponsors Publix Super Markets Charities, Ed Morse Automotive Group, Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley, Brenda Medore, and David Beaumont of Allstate Insurance, and to Literacy Coalition Board Member Nancy Vera, who chaired the event.
