More than 600 top water ski athletes, ages 6 to 90, will compete at the Ski Club of the Palm Beaches inside Okeeheelee Park on Aug. 6-10 during the 77th Goode Water Ski National Championships.
Admission for spectators is free for this event, which will begin at 8 a.m. each day. Athletes will compete for national titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall in respective age divisions and two Open divisions.
The National Championships will be held in conjunction with the 2019 America’s Cup Invitational and the 2019 Big Dawg World Slalom Tour Finals. The America’s Cup Invitational will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Big Dawg World Slalom Tour Finals will be held on Friday, Aug. 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Both events are also free for spectators. The America’s Cup Invitational will feature a jumping event where athletes will soar over 200 feet in the air, while the Big Dawg World Slalom Tour Finals will feature the world’s top slalom skiers ages 35 and up.
The first national championships was held in 1939 at Jones Beach in Long Island, N.Y. Except for three years during World War II, the event has been held every year since then. For more info., visit www.waterskinationals.com.
