A special celebration was held Friday, April 17 for Logan Ranck’s fourth birthday. Logan is a speech delayed ESE student at the Montessori Academy of Early Learning Enrichment in Greenacres.
Due to COVID-19, Logan was unable to celebrate with a traditional birthday party. His supporters decided to celebrate with a Social Distancing Parade.
“I emailed the City of Greenacres group page and heard back from Greenacres Fire Rescue 94, the Greenacres Fire-Rescue Department and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office-Greenacres,” explained Tiffanie Hoffman, who organized the event. “After a couple of redirected e-mails and phone calls, and initially expecting one deputy to lead the parade, we then received an additional call and expected one deputy and perhaps one truck. But we were awe-struck when they entered the parking lot back to back! I was brought to tears. Logan’s mother and grandmothers were also brought to tears. We can’t possibly thank our first responders enough.”
But the best part, she said, was the excitement in Logan’s voice and the smile on his face upon seeing friends, family and loved ones he hasn’t seen for more than a month. He got to see his teachers and teaching assistants drive by, wave and honk, hearing his name said over the loud speaker from the fire-rescue truck.
“It was in those few short moments that everyone was able to forget all of the down time and the uncertainty this pandemic has brought, and celebrate life, good fortune, blessings and a bright future,” Hoffman said.
