Connor Ozimek of Wellington was born on Sept. 11, 2001, a terrifying time when the country was on lockdown. Now, 18 years later, he is graduating during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The graduates in the Class of 2020 had their senior prom canceled and their commencement ceremonies canceled. But Ozimek had two graduations cancelled. He not only earned a high school diploma, but also an AICE diploma from Palm Beach Central High School and an associate’s degree from Palm Beach State College. As such, he became a college graduate 12 days before he graduated high school — achieving all of this while working evenings and weekends at the local TJ Maxx store.
Ozimek will be attending Florida Atlantic University to study accounting and finance.
