CAFCI Announces 2020 Scholarship Winners

CAFCI recently awarded 16 Palm Beach County high school students with funds toward their college education.

Requirements for the CAFCI award include a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, an official transcript, letter of acceptance from the college of their choice, evidence of school and community involvement, two letters of recommendation, and an essay to demonstrate interest in and knowledge of Caribbean culture and affairs.

The 2020 recipients are: Samirah Abellard (Suncoast High School), Eureka Appolon (Atlantic High School), Andrea R. Carey (Olympic Heights High School), Bria Coppin (Royal Palm Beach High School), Lauren Deering (Wellington High School), Estaliana Jean-Baptiste (Lake Worth High School), Michely Julno (Glades Central High School), Anjal McKenzie (Wellington High School), Kenjela Mullings (Suncoast High School), Jeanica Ossiny (Lake Worth High School), Alexcia Plunkett (Lake Worth High School), Leroy Alexander Pryor (Atlantic High School), Melissa Rodriguez (Wellington High School), Jeffrey Saint-Vil (Lake Worth High School), Christmanie Senat (Village Academy) and Farjana Yasmin (Pahokee Middle/Senior High School).

CAFCI was formed 31 years ago in Royal Palm Beach to encourage volunteerism and diversity in the community. The money for the awards is raised by generous donations made by CAFCI members and community partners/stakeholders, from proceeds generated from CAFCI’s Annual Friendship Ball and various fundraising events.
