The Wellington Roller Hockey Association is continuing its season at Village Park. Shown below are capsule summaries from WRHA Week 9 games.
Junior Bruins 3, Junior Panthers 3 — On a cloudy January morning, a full 60 minutes, followed by five minutes of overtime, couldn’t settle the contest as the Junior Panthers and Junior Bruins battled to a 3-3 draw. The game see-sawed back and forth, with multiple lead changes throughout the contest. Jeremy Jones of the Bruins (1 goal) scored late in the third to tie the game at 3. Additional Bruins scoring came from James Warszycki (1 goal, 1 assist) and Michael Hoge (1 goal, 1 assist). The Panthers were led by Tucker Allen’s pair of goals, Luc Hanchuk (2 assists) and Matthew Taylor (1 goal). The Panthers outshot the Bruins 40-24.
Prep Panthers 7, Prep Rangers 1 — On the Prep circuit, the Prep Panthers defeated the Rangers 7-1. The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, added another pair of goals in the second and three in the third period. The Panthers were led by Felipe Deguzman (5 goals) and Lauren Deguzman (2 goals). Logan Stepp also chipped in with an assist for the Panthers. The Rangers’ lone tally came from Jordan Candela, his first goal of the season. Matthew Taylor made nine saves in the victory for the Panthers, while Rangers’ goalie Hayden Baker faced a barrage of 31 shots in defeat.
