Leadership at HCA Florida Palms West Hospital broke ground Monday, April 4, on a $16 million emergency room expansion project.
The expansion will include an additional 4,400 square feet of space and renovate the existing 17,900 square feet to add 12 beds to the ER. The expansion will also allow for a fast-track emergency area, adult ER entrance and triage, and an EMS entrance.
Additionally, the expansion allows for a dedicated pediatric emergency room, which will have a pediatric ER entrance, a pediatric triage area and dedicated pediatric emergency rooms.
“It’s our job to take advantage of this opportunity to expand healthcare across Palm Beach County and care for and improve human life,” said Jason Kimbrell, CEO of Palms West Hospital. “[The expansion is] the next step toward where I believe we will be a next-generation hospital for our community to count on for being their hospital of choice, employees to count on for a great place of employment and a great place for our doctors to practice medicine.”
Last year, Palms West saw nearly 50,000 patients in its emergency room. The expansion is expected to be complete in the spring of 2023.
