PBSC Lox Groves Students Get Career Insight From Local Executives

Ken Romer, Kimberly Lancaster, Matt Silver, Jodi Gast, Allen Gast, Stuart Hack and Lynn Stockford at the Executive Leaders Roundtable & Luncheon held April 18.

A group of local business executives participated in a panel discussion at Palm Beach State College’s Loxahatchee Groves campus to give students insight into employment and internship opportunities in the information technology, accounting, business and construction fields.

Participants in the Executive Leaders Roundtable & Luncheon were Ken Romer, chief information officer for ITMS; Allen Gast, founder and president of Gast Construction Group; Lynn Stockford, manager of Network Development East Coast for Tampa General Hospital; Stuart Hack, managing member of Hack Tax and Accounting Services; and Matt Silver, Florida Power & Light project director for solar development for the Palm Beach and Treasure Coast region. Jodi Gast, vice president and chief financial officer at Gast Construction Group, was the moderator.

Dean of Academic Affairs Kimberly Lancaster said the April 18 event, sponsored by FPL and the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, was the first major event on the campus since students returned last fall.

“It’s about connecting the students to internships and employment opportunities,” she said. “The goal is to keep the campus relevant in the community and raise awareness of what is offered on the campus to support employers and students.”

During the event, which drew more than 60 PBSC staff, students and members of the community, students rotated between roundtable discussions with each panelist, and there also was a general question-and-answer session.
