Western Ride Supports Victims Of Domestic Violence

Riders take off from the starting line.

The threat of rain did not keep participants away from the inaugural Western Ride, an organized bicycle ride created to bring awareness and support for victims of domestic violence. Co-sponsored by the Village of Wellington as the largest cycling event in the western communities, the Western Ride offered 60-mile, 30-mile and 15-mile rides for nearly 75 cyclists. Proceeds benefited Donnah’s Fund and the nonprofit Women in Distress. The ride kicked off from the Wellington Municipal Complex on Sunday, Oct. 9 in the early morning hours. After the inaugural event’s success, the Western Ride will return in 2023. For more information, and to support Donnah’s Fund, visit www.womenindistress.org/ways-to-donate/donnahs-fund.
