Grandma’s Place Inc., a not-for-profit emergency foster shelter in Royal Palm Beach, recently received a $5,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation in its latest round of funding.
“Grandma’s Place is a place of refuge for children who are in a very difficult time of their lives,” said Kelly Sobolewski, senior vice president Palm Beach County market manager at Bank of America during her recent visit to Grandma’s Place.
Grandma’s Place President Karen Vaughn thanked the foundation. “We are deeply grateful for the gift from the Bank of America Foundation,” she said. “The funds granted will help us to carry on our mission, but more than that, the warmth and assistance offered by Kelly and all of the Bank of America employees is overwhelming and so deeply appreciated.”
Grandma’s Place serves children from birth through 12 years of age who have been removed from their own homes by the Florida Department of Children & Families due to abuse or neglect. Grandma’s Place provides a loving and nurturing homelike environment, and welcomes all children, including those with disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, fetal alcohol effects or profoundly delayed. The goal of the program is to provide shelter and loving care to these children until they can be reunited with their families or other safe placement can be found. Grandma’s Place is the only agency in the county accepting emergency cases for children from birth to age 10.
