MARCH 25 — A West Palm Beach teen was killed and a Royal Palm Beach teen injured Monday afternoon in a crash on Belvedere Road in Royal Palm Beach.
According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office report, 17-year-old James McLendon died when his Mazda 626 crashed into a dump truck being driven by 54-year-old Bobby Moore. According to the report, witnesses said that McLendon was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Belvedere Road when a Toyota Camry driven by 60-year-old Cathy Manriquez turned right onto the road from Sansbury’s Way. McLendon swerved to avoid the car and crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with the truck.
According to the report, McLendon died at the scene. A passenger, 17-year-old Natalie Pastorius, was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center and was listed in serious condition at the time of the report.
