Letter: Enforce Current Rules Against Median Signs

People or businesses (who don’t pay property taxes) with signs in a median are already banned by state laws governing signs along state roads. These “signs” are illegal billboards and are prohibited under current statues. Under local ordinances, land owners (taxpayers) can’t even put signs up that flash, move, or are in the right-of-way — on their own property. Either the Department of Transportation or the county should enforce the law. Not enforcing the laws on the books allows those who don’t play by the rules to take advantage of those who do.
