The Wellington Preservation Coalition will host a “Tell the Truth” gathering Monday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. in the original Wellington Mall.
The meeting has two goals. The first is to communicate to village staff that Wellington residents want more truthful, factual and transparent communication. The second is to distribute the facts about the flurry of legal disputes on which the village is spending taxpayers’ money.
Speakers will talk about the legal context within which the village works regarding several issues.
Morley Alperstein will provide welcoming statements; County Commissioner Jess Santamaria will discuss ethics in government; Ken Adams will discuss the purpose and intent of the village charter and its relevance to proposed changes to the Equestrian Overlay Zoning District; former Mayor Tom Wenham will discuss how the Wellington Village Council and mayor get information about important issues and the rules they must follow; and Florida Alliance for Retired Americans President Tony Fransetta will discuss facts about the unprecedented special hearing held in July. A question-and-answer session will follow.
This is not a political meeting, nor is it a debate or a forum for individual interests.
The Wellington Preservation Coalition intends the tone to be civil, professional, factual, honest, respectful and focused on the facts.
