Blue Whale Apps, a Wellington-based iPhone app developer, has announced that it is currently developing apps using the latest iOS SDK in anticipation of releasing updated apps for iOS 6.
The company’s engineering team attended Apple’s WWDC 2012 in June when the new operating system was announced.
Updates to existing apps are expected, as Blue Whale seeks to take advantage of innovative new features to provide the most functionality to both businesses and consumers.
“Both people and businesses have come to rely on our apps for essential activities and entertainment,” said Gregg Weiss, managing director of Blue Whale Apps. “We are making sure they are not left behind when iOS 6 is released this fall. Meeting our clients’ goals, objectives and budget are just as important with the new update as it has always been.”
The company’s iOS app development efforts are being structured to make use of the new features of iOS 6. Its apps encompass a range of brand, social media and game-centric products aimed to ease consumer outreach and communication for businesses, while maximizing customer satisfaction.
“Our apps for iOS 6 will be engineered using the latest software development kit,” said Andrei Averbuch, lead engineer of Blue Whale Apps. “Users will be able to fully appreciate the power of the new mobile device operating system, based on customer feedback and our own presence at Apple’s conference.”
Planned for release this fall, iOS 6 will include a totally overhauled maps app with tilt and rotate features to optimize viewing. Clear navigation will be accompanied by visual and spoken turn-by-turn navigation in addition to real-time traffic updates.
The presence of Siri will also be expanded and will include sports, entertainment, restaurant reservations and movie ratings. This feature will be integrated into select cars, activated via a steering wheel button, to enable an “eyes free” operation when driving.
