The Rotary Club of Royal Palm Beach will honor Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Michael Gauger as its “Palm Beach County Citizen of the Year” on Saturday, Feb. 17. Gauger has served more than 45 years with the PBSO. He attained the rank of colonel before being elevated to chief deputy a decade ago. Gauger and his wife Phyllis are the parents of two adult children and reside in Wellington.
Limited tickets remain for the dinner, which is expected to sell out. Speakers paying tribute to Gauger include Town-Crier Publisher Barry Manning, former Palm Beach County Commissioner Jess Santamaria and several of his colleagues from the PBSO, including Tony Coms, Don Jacobs and Pat Halperin.
