Polo Park Middle School students recently took home awards at the Future Business Leaders of America District 20 competition.

FBLA is a nonprofit educational association for middle school, high school and collegiate students interested in learning about the free enterprise system. It is recognized throughout the United States.

The purpose of FBLA is to prepare members for careers in business by helping them become better employees and citizens. FBLA helps students develop leadership abilities, prepares them for entry into business-related occupations, and offers a setting where members compete at regional, state, and national levels in business and technology curriculum.

Middle schools compete against each other in various business-related events. Competitions include skill events where students prepare documents in Word, Excel and Publisher and demonstrate public speaking. The top seven competitors in each event were recognized at an award ceremony that was held on Feb. 1 at Palm Beach Gardens High School.
