I am writing in support of Marybel Reinoso Coleman, who is running for Circuit Court Judge, Group 18.
I have known Marybel, both personally and professionally, for almost 20 years. Marybel and her family emigrated from Cuba in 1971, coming to the United States to pursue a better life of opportunity without oppression. She has been a resident of Palm Beach County for 47 years. After graduating from Palm Beach County’s public school system, she went on to graduate from Florida Atlantic University and then from Mercer University with her juris doctor. Marybel and I worked together and around each other for many years, and I have witnessed first-hand that she is a well-respected, skilled and knowledgeable trial attorney with more than 25 years of experience practicing in all five of the circuit court divisions in Palm Beach County: criminal, civil, family, probate and juvenile. She has tried more than 200 cases in her career, both bench and jury, and is well versed in the inner workings of the court system.
Marybel began her career working as an assistant state attorney in the Office of the State Attorney of the 15th Judicial Circuit, Palm Beach County. She spent nine years there, prosecuting persons accused of crimes from misdemeanors to capital murder. After she left the Office of the State Attorney, she entered into private practice, working in the areas of civil and probate litigation, eventually concentrating her practice in the area of marital and family law. Throughout her career in private practice, Marybel has given back to the community by routinely offering her services to people in need with minimal finances by representing them on a pro-bono basis.
On a personal level, Marybel has been married to Major Eric Coleman of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office for 15 years, and they have four children. The family is active in the Royal Palm Beach community, their children participate in local sporting events and they attend Christ Fellowship.
It is Marybel’s goal to continue serving the people of Palm Beach County as a circuit court judge. Her vast and varied experience in the many areas of the law makes her the best and most uniquely qualified candidate for the Group 18 judicial position. Her transition from private practice onto the bench will be fluid and smooth, and she will be able to immediately carry out her duties.
