Wellington’s Stas Politis of National Planning Corporation joined more than 500 other professional insurance and financial advisors, agents, brokers and employee benefit specialists from across the country to meet with U.S. Senate and U.S. House members and staff as part of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) Congressional Conference May 14-15.
Politis has been a board member of NAIFA since 2011. Politis joined NAIFA leaders, including NAIFA President Jill Judd, NAIFA CEO Kevin Mayeux and other members of NAIFA’s board, for the two-day event. The life insurance industry pays out $1.7 billion each day and supports 2.6 million jobs.
“In today’s legislative and regulatory environment, it’s important to make contacts on Capitol Hill and educate them about our industry,” Politis said. “There are dozens of new members in the 116th Congress who may not be fully aware of the vital role that insurance and financial advisors play in ensuring the financial security of 90 million American families, making our advocacy efforts and grassroots outreach more important than ever.”
Politis met with congressional staff for U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel, U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio.
On May 15, NAIFA members traveled to Capitol Hill to brief lawmakers on the legislative issues that matter to Main Street Americans, and how these issues impact the industry and consumers’ financial well-being. They asked Congress for its continued support for policies that encourage Main Street families and businesses to prepare and save for their futures and asked for support of non-partisan retirement legislation.
