The Royal Palm Beach Planning & Zoning Commission approved several sign applications and building façade renovations on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
The commissioners recommended architectural approval of an application by JBL Village Shoppes to renovate the existing building façades at the Village Shoppes shopping center located at the northwest corner of State Road 7 and Southern Blvd. to be conducted in three phases.
The applicant is proposing to use high reflective white for the body of the building, the color “morning fog” for accent colors, with stone and gray for banding, and slatted wood screen architectural features, said Planning & Zoning Director Bradford O’Brien, who added that staff recommended approval.
Commissioner Ray Nazareth made a motion to approve the application, which carried 5-0.
The commission also recommended approval of a request to renovate the existing monument sign at the Village Shoppes.
“The applicant is proposing to use a black background and soft orange on the body of the sign, and white for the trim,” O’Brien said, adding that staff recommended approval.
Commissioner Philip Marquis made a motion to recommend approval, which carried 4-0 with Commissioner David Leland not present for the vote.
The agenda also included two sign approvals.
The commissioners recommended approval of a request for new wall signage at Domino’s Pizza, located at 171 S. State Road 7, Suite 100-B. O’Brien said the applicant is requesting approval of wall signage with similar design as other Domino’s Pizza locations. Marquis made a motion to recommend approval, which carried 5-0.
Finally, the commissioners recommended approval of new signage at the Village Center, located at the southwest corner of Okeechobee and Royal Palm Beach boulevards.
O’Brien said the applicant is requesting approval to renovate the existing monument and directional signs to indicate the Royal Palm Medical Plaza, now located at the long vacant office building west of Village Hall. Staff recommended approval of the application.
Leland said it was nice to finally get a tenant in the building. O’Brien said getting the long-present clock tower operating at the high-traffic corner was one of the conditions of approval.
Applicant representative Shanna Brogan said the owners have considerable work to do to get the building fully operational.
Marquis made a motion to recommend approval, which carried 5-0.
